Oil & Filter Change

The cheapest habit that keeps an engine alive past 200,000 miles.

Why it matters

Oil is the only thing standing between metal parts rubbing against each other at thousands of revolutions per minute. It lubricates, carries heat away, and holds the tiny particles that wear off inside the engine. As it ages it thins, oxidizes, and gets saturated with contaminants — and the protection quietly disappears.

Signs it is time

  • Oil change sticker is past due or the dash reminder is on
  • Oil is dark, gritty, or smells burnt
  • Engine sounds louder or rougher on cold starts
  • You are adding oil between changes
  • Oil pressure light flickers

If you wait

Sludged oil starves bearings and the timing chain of lubrication. The result is not usually a failed oil change — it is a failed engine, the single most expensive repair a car can need.
